Ski Equipment Waxing

Snow skiing is a favourite sport in the Alpine region that uses skis as primary equipment. In colder climates, there are many different types of skiing that are popular and many types of competitive skiing events are recognised by major sports committees around the world. However, due to the dangerous nature of the sport, athletes and skiers are being reminded of keeping high quality equipment for better performance and for a worthwhile sporting experience.

One of the things that you can keep your equipment reliable when skiing is to protect the bottom of your skis against rocks and sticks through waxing. Although it is not very hard to perform the application, you must ensure that you have done it correctly before it can work and protect. The first thing that you are going to do is to get all things that you will need including an old iron, wax of your choice, scraper that you can purchase at your local ski shop and a nice place to work for a more steady set up of your ski.

Heating the iron up is the next thing that you are going to do. Make it as hot as it can melt the wax but not let it smoke. Just make sure that your skis are not cold and hold the iron upside down. Let the wax drip down onto the skis by pushing it against the iron. After the wax has dripped, iron it evenly on the ski that should cover the whole bottom side of the equipment. Repeat the process for the other ski and let the wax sit for about ten minutes and start scraping afterwards. For a more effective result, try to purchase a ski waxing kit at your local ski shop and always consider extreme caution while using the iron and the wax.
