Why a Cruise is a Good Way to Pamper Yourself
Whatever you do in life you want to do it and feel good in yourself whilst you are doing it. Whether you are waiting at a port ready to go onboard one of the many cruises from Southampton or whether you are getting ready at home for a Saturday night out. In the past people only made a fuss out of what they were wearing or the smaller details of their beauty regime if it was a special occasion but this is changing. People want a holiday of a lifetime more than once and they want to dress up for work and play. And there is a wealth of choice to cater for these demands. For example many women regularly visit spas and have their legs waxed. It used to be an absolute must for any special occasion. If you were having an extravagant experience aboard one of the Royal Caribbean cruises you would probably not want to relax with hairy legs. Even if someone does not notice whether you have legs like silk or not it is the small details which really have an effect on how you feel. It is the same with anything, when you go to a restaurant or have a holiday on an ocean liner such as those sailing with P&O cruises, you are aware, whether consciously or subconsciously, of those minor but important aspects which can have an impact on your whole experience.

"We have just returned from a fantastic New England/Canada cruise on the Caribbean Princess, everything was great, we couldn't fault a thing, the crew, from Deck Hands to Senior Officers were friendly and helpful. The disabled on board had no problem getting help on shore excursions. The food and entertainment was as good as any London West End Restaurant and Theatre." - Brennan, Bromley on 15th Sep 2009 (Princess Cruises)
A Holiday Starts at the Salon
Beauty treatments such as waxing also exfoliate the skin, making the skin soft and allowing many women to wear their holiday outfits as well as their everyday attire with a sense of confidence and cleanliness. Women expecting social events and sea air aboard on say one of the Celebrity cruises will want to feel pampered and special before setting off and of course, will want to remove any hair a good couple of days before facing any strong sunlight. It is often the case that the pampering starts long before the holiday and is part of the preparation along with buying sunscreens and a dress for a special night. Traditional beauty treatments have come along way though and there are several options available. Sugaring is one option and is less traumatic to the skin than waxing. It is really what people prefer and get used to but what they often want is to use a service that specialises in that area specifically. If you wanted a traditional holiday onboard a luxury ship, for example you might take a look at some of the Cunard cruises which appeal to many passengers wanting a holiday which is more akin to the traditional voyages. Whether choosing a holiday company or choosing a spa you are looking for something which fits in with your life. If you live in Reading you probably want to visit a local spa before you set sail with to distant lands.

"The main restaurant was great, one particular night which was an Eastern themed night served a Chinese on par with my favourite local. Breakfast was suberb every day, everything you could think of was served. The Oasis, the cover charge restaurant, was fantastic, definately worth booking." - W.O.T, Nr London on 13th Sep 2009 (Island Cruises)
Personal Service
If you are looking in the direction of South America then you might be thinking about going on one of the many Caribbean cruises and perhaps you might be also thinking about a wax that is commonly called a Brazilian. This is a bikini wax where most of the hair is removed leaving a thin strip. It is favoured by many holidaymakers going to sunny areas where they might be relaxing on deck or on a beach with a fashionable bikini. Spas accustomed to waxing are getting more and more requests for this type of waxing. There are more and more people opting for holidays on luxury liners and although there is often a more relaxed feeling onboard, there is still a feeling of wanting to feel pampered and ready for an adventure of a lifetime. Because waxing can be quite intimate it is important that you feel relaxed and at ease in any salon and those salons which focus on hair removal perhaps have more or an understanding of this. When you are choosing someone to look after any need you need the company to cater for your specific needs. For example Fred Olsen cruises have a distinctive British feel and offer perhaps a more personal service because they have smaller liners. A local spa where you can get to know the staff might also be attractive to many people, especially if they have never had treatments such as waxing before. Personal service is all important.

"This was our 1st cruise, family of 4, my husband who turned 40 whilst on the cruise, myself 38, 2 kids age 14 and 11. we were impressed from the outset. spotless ship, food and drink fantastic, excellent service, top entertainment. i cannot recommend thomson cruises enough, the best holiday we have ever had." - Wimbush, West Midlands on 14th Sep 2009 (Thomson Cruises)
Relaxed and Cosmopolitan
People in general are so much more cosmopolitan and younger people, for example, are now looking at holidays aboard liners such as MSC cruises which are aimed at appealing to their sense of get up and go. These ships offer a distinctive European feel with an Italian crew and Italian cuisine. However, it may be that the tradition to not wax as much as their British or American counterparts is less appealing to these same holidaymakers. Modern women and even men from all walks of life are more used to spending money at their local salon. They may want to wax their legs, bikini line, arms or even eyebrows and dropping by their local salon is part of their routine. It is a more user-friendly set-up. The same goes for how younger people like to travel and relax. They might be looking more at luxury liners but they do want to have a relaxed approach. Less traditional holidays on say NCL cruises mean that there are no set dining times and the ship is perhaps less formal than some. With most things, there is always an influence from the USA and beauty is no exception. For some women wanting to completely rid themselves of bikini hair they opt for what is called the Hollywood wax. It is becoming more and more popular, especially with younger women who once de-fluffing might want to relax watching a move under the stars one of the American style Princess cruises.

"We had the best time this summer - loved every minute as did the kids. We will never forget what a brilliant time we had with all the family and look forward to many many more holidays together, cruising around the world." - Dunn, Pinner on 13th Sep 2009 (P&O Cruises)
